Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) Consulting — EN 15804 & ISO 14025
NLCCC prepares third-party verified Type III Environmental Product Declarations for construction products and industrial goods, from the first scoping call to registration with a programme operator. Delivered remotely for manufacturers in India and worldwide.
What an EPD is, and what it is not
An Environmental Product Declaration is a standardised, independently verified report of a product's environmental performance across its life cycle. It is a Type III environmental declaration under ISO 14025, which means it is based on a full life cycle assessment and verified by an independent third party before publication. For construction products the underlying LCA must follow EN 15804+A2, the European core rules that fix the system boundary, the impact indicators and the way results are reported, so that one EPD can be compared with another for the same product category.
An EPD is not a certificate of environmental performance and does not say a product is "green". It reports measured impacts in a format that buyers, specifiers, green building assessors and regulators can read and compare. That neutrality is why it is accepted in tenders and rating schemes where marketing claims are not.
Who needs an EPD
- Manufacturers of construction products, including tiles, natural and engineered stone, cement and concrete products, steel, aluminium, insulation, glass, flooring and plastics, selling into markets where EPDs are requested in tenders or required for green building credits.
- Exporters to the EU and UK, where public procurement and major contractors increasingly ask for EN 15804 EPDs as a condition of supply.
- Suppliers to projects certified under LEED, BREEAM, IGBC or GRIHA, where product-specific EPDs contribute to materials credits.
- Companies receiving repeated customer requests for product-level environmental data, where one EPD answers the question once instead of project by project.
How NLCCC delivers an EPD
Our six-step consulting methodology from initial product scoping to internationally registered declaration.
Scoping & PCR Selection
We identify the applicable Product Category Rules (PCR) under the chosen programme operator, define the declared or functional unit, establish the system boundary (A1–A3, cradle-to-gate with options, or cradle-to-grave), and align on data collection boundaries.
Primary Data Collection
We supply a structured data collection questionnaire tailored to your manufacturing process and support your engineering, plant operations, and procurement teams in gathering primary production, raw material, energy, logistics, and waste data.
LCA Background Modelling
We build the compliant Life Cycle Assessment model using verified primary data and leading background databases (Ecoinvent) in strict accordance with ISO 14040/44 and EN 15804+A2, calculating all required mandatory core environmental impact indicators.
EPD Project Report & Documentation
We draft the formal background LCA project report and the customer-facing EPD declaration document according to the programme operator's template and formatting rules.
Third-Party Independent Verification
We coordinate directly with an approved, independent third-party verifier, addressing and resolving all technical audit questions, calculation methodologies, and documentation queries until full approval.
Registration & Public Publication
We submit the verified declaration and project report to the programme operator for official registration, obtaining the declaration number and ensuring public indexing.
System boundary and indicators under EN 15804+A2
EN 15804+A2 requires construction product EPDs to cover, as a minimum, the production stage (modules A1–A3), the end-of-life stage (C1–C4) and benefits and loads beyond the system boundary (module D). A product may declare A1–A3 only if all three exemption conditions in the standard are met: it is physically integrated with other products during installation so that it cannot be separated at end of life, it is no longer identifiable at end of life as a result of a physical or chemical transformation, and it contains no biogenic carbon. Transport to site and installation (A4–A5) and the use stage (B1–B7) are added where the PCR requires them or the manufacturer chooses.
The +A2 amendment replaced the earlier indicator set with one aligned to the EU Environmental Footprint method: 13 core environmental indicators, including climate change reported as total, fossil, biogenic and land use and land use change, together with ozone depletion, acidification, three eutrophication indicators, photochemical ozone formation, depletion of mineral, metal and fossil resources, and water deprivation. Six additional indicators, resource-use and waste indicators, and biogenic carbon content are reported alongside them. An EPD prepared to the older +A1 version is not directly comparable, and most programme operators no longer accept new +A1 EPDs.
Programme operators
NLCCC is a registered LCA practitioner on the International EPD System and has published EPDs through EPD Hub. We prepare EPDs for registration with these and other recognised programme operators. Operator choice affects where the EPD is recognised, the registration cost and the verification route, and we advise on it at scoping.

The study used metered electricity at unit-process level, with the on-site photovoltaic share verified against twelve months of electricity bills, and avoided allocation wherever processes could be measured separately. Export and domestic packaging were modelled from actual dispatch shares over the reference period.
What you provide
